Castle/Town Walls completed.

You may remember I bought a toy castle for £14 a few weeks ago. I painted the very plastic looking grey pieces black and highlighted them with grey. It has turned out very well. The pieces snap together and so are easy to store, an added bonus is that they are of course very lightweight too. Not too sure if the drawbridge will be staying, I may scratch build some wooden gates. It will make an ideal castle or walled town, there are more towers and walled sections to extend it if required.

The castle gate.

Looking down the length of the walls.

Very imposing!

Placed in one corner of the table. Extra wall and tower sections can be added to form a right angle if needed.

Lots of room on the towers and the walkways for the defending troops.

Castle and Town Walls.

I have been on the lookout for a cheap method of acquiring some castle/town walls for the 28mm Wars of the Roses and English Civil War projects. I think I have solved that problem.

Debenhams were offering this Superplay Castle for £14 on their website, it looked about the right size for 28mm so I took a punt. All the pieces snap together and will allow me to build a number of different configurations on the table. It will of course require some painting and weathering, but I think it looks brilliant.

Lots of pieces to make the towers.

Wall sections and of course the keep.

Some 28mm Wars of the Roses troops placed for sense of scale.

Even the gateway with its drawbridge is a perfect fit for 28mm.

I am really pleased with this purchase, yes it is very basic and will not be to everyone's taste, but at the price I paid, then it will do me just fine.
