War of the Roses troop muster and 6mm ACW tented camp.

I decided to muster the troops completed so far on the table top with a couple of buildings and a scenic backdrop, this was really so I could see exactly what each of the four main factions had in their retinue so far and allow me to plan who should get the next two units. The black and amber retinue of Yorkist, Sir Walter de Cobham will receive a unit of spear men, The dark blue and white of Lancastrian, Lord Sir Benedict Foxe will add a unit of crossbowmen.

The unit of bill men and their command are not designated to any of the four major leaders and will be part of the retinues of the lesser knights in the campaign.

These resin buildings are from my English Civil War project, but fit nicely into this period. A timber merchant/cooperage.

Finally, I have finished some tents that have been sat on my workbench for almost a month, they are for the 6mm ACW project, which I have been neglecting lately in favour of the War of the Roses. I shall have to rectify that.

Spear men and firearms unit nigh on complete.

Sir Ralph Lytton and Sir Walter de Cobham each receive a new unit for their respective retinues. The former a unit of 12 spear men, the latter a unit of firearms troops with very early muskets. They just need flock adding to the bases. There are enough figures in the boxes, I am using two boxes of War of the Roses Mercenary Infantry, to build up two more 12 man units and enough weapon options for them to either be spear men, firearms or crossbowmen. I am erring on the side of another unit of spear men and a unit of crossbowmen, but we shall see. Not bad value though, six 12 man units from two boxes of Perry. My WotR forces are gathering up nicely. Still two boxes of Foot Knights, two boxes of standard infantry and a box of Mounted Men at Arms to go. Should give me plenty enough for my campaign game using Lion Rampant rules.

Short progress report on War of the Roses Project.

Another two units of 12 figures are now in the process of being painted. Still working my way through the two boxes of Perry Mercenaries, these units will be another unit of spear men and the first unit of firearms troops. Sticking to my regular colour schemes for the factions.

I have gone with alternate black and amber for tabards, legs and arms. They should look quite striking on the war gaming table.
