I have recently been distracted by the release of Osprey Publishing, The Pikeman's Lament. You will see a battle report of a test game on this blog. It reminded me of how much I love this rule system, PL being a powder and shot version of Lion Rampant.
I thoroughly enjoyed my test battle of PL, but before I dive further into it, I still want to try out the campaign game, devised by my good friend Stephen. Originally it was written for the excellent One Hour Wargames, but I intend to use LR instead.
Not that there is anything wrong with OHW, but I think LR would be more fun, and is a rule set designed for skirmish wargaming, that I really do enjoy playing.
I have been in conversation with Stephen, and suggested a change or two to his campaign rules. He took those suggestions on board, and has sent me a version two. It will be this latter version that I shall be using.
The armies are still selected by via the OHW system of army building, but the rules used will be LR. The scenarios too, will be from OHW, so a complete hybrid is in the offing.
I hope to begin the campaign within the next few days.
Some great looking troops!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray, should be an enjoyable campaign.
DeleteGreat stuff Ian looking forward to seeing the campaign and to see how it works with lion rampant Cheers mate
ReplyDeleteThanks Stephen, the change of rules shouldn't present a problem, both are skirmish and I can stick to the original number of units per nation. It should be interesting.
